Free Summer Meals For Bibb Students

The Bibb County School System is launching its Summer Feeding Program May 31st. Kids 18 and under can receive free breakfast, lunch, or a snack at more than 85 sites throughout the county.

According to Nutrition Director Dr. Cleta Long, more than 75% of Bibb students qualify for free or reduced lunches during the school year. She says the summer feeding program will help keep students healthy.

“This helps with them retaining the knowledge that they have learned in the year, so that when they start back to school in August you know they are fit and ready to go,” says Long.

This year the district will add fresh locally grown produce to its feeding program through a partnership with Community Health.
