Fallen GA Officers Honored in Candlelight Vigil

Lori Thompson hurts deeply over the loss of her son, former Twiggs County Deputy Richard Daniels. The 27-year-old officer died after a 30 foot oak tree fell on his patrol car during a routine

drive last June. Law Enforcement United honored all of Georgia‘s fallen officers from this past year. Thompson says community support compels her to see hope in a difficult season.

“Losing an officer or losing a child is an extremely hard thing to do. Because he was an officer, the respect and the dignity that is given to them through this process is very honoring to our family,” said Thompson.

Major John Wagner of the Warner Robins Police Department says when an officer goes down in the line of public service they all take an emotional hit. No matter the distance between them, a sense of brotherhood goes with wearing the badge.
