Bibb County Teacher Named Georgia Teacher of the Year

The 2012 Teacher of the Year was announced Friday night in Atlanta, and he’s from Middle Georgia. Congratulations to Bibb County English Teacher, Jadun McCarthy! Mr. McCarthy teaches at Northeast High School, and has been teaching for six years.

41 NBC spoke to McCarthy tonight, and he says, quote, that he is “ecstatic, overwhelmed, and speechless!”

Mr. McCarthy will spend the next school year serving as an ambassador and advocate for teachers.  He will now go on to compete in the National Teacher of the Year competition.

Reading teacher, Beth Sciarro, from Northside Elementary in Houston County, was one of the top ten finalists for Georgia Teacher of the Year.
