Macon Officer Attacked, Subdues Mental Patient with Candy
A Macon Police officer was attacked Thursday by a man who was mentally disabled.
It happened at the Overlook Gardens apartments on Gray Highway Thursday night. Police say they were called by a mental health supervisor from RiverEdge, who went to check on the man. He found the 38 year-old white male, approximately 6 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing over 350 pounds, acting violently.
When police arrived, the disabled man hit an officer with a broom on his left hand. Officers considered using a taser to get a handle on the situation, but opted for a handful of lollipops instead.
The man was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia to be stabilized. Police recovered a razor when they handcuffed him.
