Parts of Amerson River Park, Ocmulgee Heritage Trail closed due to flooding

Macon-Bibb County says these areas will remain closed until the river level recedes and any cleanup needed is completed.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The severe weather that moved through Macon on Tuesday, left behind major flooding.

Due to the rising level of the Ocmulgee River, the Parks & Beautification Department is closing the following areas:

  • Boat ramps on the north and south end of Amerson River Park.
  • Dirt trails around the pond in Amerson River Park.
  • Paved trail between the Overlook and north boat ramp in Amerson River Park.
  • Spring Street boat ramp and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.

Macon-Bibb County says these areas will remain closed until the river level recedes and any cleanup needed is completed.

The county says anyone using the rest of Amerson River Park during the next few days, is asked to avoid areas marked off as the river continues to rise.
