Summer Book-Out promotes reading with 2,000 book giveaway

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., United Way, and the Frank Johnson Recreation Center advisory board have partnered to sponsor a citywide summer “book-out” at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center on Saturday, June 8th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. It includes a 2,000-book giveaway, refreshments, story time, and other literacy-focused activities.

The summer book-out promotes a tailgating atmosphere with a variety of vendor tables. It also offers computer classes and poetry cafés.

The Frank Johnson advisory board hopes that the event engages community members in developing community partnerships and building bridges through literacy.
