Email Allegations Force State Sen. Cecil Staton to Hand Over Majority Whip Duties
Middle Georgia State Senator Cecil Staton, a Republican from District 18, handed over his duties as Majority Whip during the last two days of the legislative session because of email allegations.
According to Senate spokesperson Tom Krause, Staton did not want any allegations to take away from the final days of the session. Chief Deputy Whip, Republican Senator Greg Goggan, of Douglas, will assume his responsibilities.
Krause also tells 41 NBC, Staton did not resign from his role as Majority Whip.
