Pastor Takes To Power of Prayer To Lower Gas Prices
Pastor Marshall Mabry is leader of the Beacon of Light Christian Center in Dublin.
Mabry says, the rising cost of gas prices have led him to begin organizing ‘Prayer at the Pump’ gatherings, and ask God to lower the cost of the price of a gallon of gas.
“For me, as a believer and a pastor, prayer is always my first, last, and only response,” Mabry said.
News of the ‘Prayer at the Pump’ has spread across the country in the past few days, bringing unexpected results to Mabry’s personal life.
“I’ve been called everything from a saint, to a sinner, a heretic, a heathen. It’s amazing. But one thing I realize, in order to please God, you’re gonna have to displease some people.”
While fueling his pickup truck, William Jones of Dublin, says he’s a little skeptical of the idea.
“I don’t know if it’ll be effective or not, but I like the idea of prayer,” Jones said.
This is Mabry’s third ‘Prayer at the Pump’ event. It begins at 9:00a.m. at the Kroger gas station on Hillcrest Parkway in Dublin.
