Tasha Butts passes away at 41 from breast cancer
Tasha Butts was named Georgetown Women's Basketball head coach in April 2023.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgetown Women’s Basketball head coach and former Baldwin Bravette, Tasha Butts, has passed away at the age of 41 after being diagnosed two years ago with advanced-stage metastatic breast cancer.
Butts was recently hired as the Hoyas’ head coach in April 2023 after serving as an assistant at the Division I level for nearly two decades.
Butts is the all-time leading scorer for the Bravettes and was a consensus All-American and the Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year as a student at Baldwin High School in Milledgeville.
She went on to play collegiate basketball at the University of Tennessee under the legendary head coach Pat Summitt, where Butts helped the Lady Vols make three Final Four appearances. She concluded her career as a Lady Vol with the fourth-most games played in program history.
Butts also reached the pinnacle by playing in the WNBA after being drafted 20th overall in 2004 by the Minnesota Lynx, and she also played for Houston and Charlotte.
