Macon P&Z commission denies used car lot expansion due to residential concerns
A proposed expansion for a used car lot, located at 4145 Hartley Bridge Road, was denied during Monday's Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A proposed expansion for a used car lot, located at 4145 Hartley Bridge Road, was denied during Monday’s Macon-Bibb Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.
Residents of Timber Ridge Estates expressed their concerns about expanding Interstate Auto Sales.
The denied proposal would have added 76 parking spaces for the car lot’s inventory and two driveways: one along Hartley Bridge Road and one on Timber Ridge Drive.
Residents say they were worried about increased traffic, safety and how the expansion would look.
“I’ve been there for 31 years, and we like it the way it is,” local resident Garry Cummings said. “Obviously with that property designated commercial at some point in time somebody’s gonna put something there, but we just want it to be palatable with our neighborhood.”
Previous zoning violations by the auto dealer also played a part in the commission’s decision.
