New Public Radio Station To Hit Airwaves In Middle Georgia

Milledgeville and Baldwin County are about to notice a little change to their radio dials.

W.R.G.C. is about to take to the airwaves, broadcasting live from Georgia College and State University. The new station will broadcast on 88.3 FM.

The station is a part of Georgia Public Broadcasting, and will air stories and news from N.P.R.

Station Operations Manager, Mike Wooten, says the station will focus on making G.C.S.U. more available, and accessible, to the community.

“We want to maybe focus on issues going on in Milledgeville and in Baldwin County, and the surrounding area and talk about the issues,” Wooten says.

Some 62,000 people in that area currently do not have access to a public radio station.

Wooten says the first couple of weeks they will feature more musical performances, then they will get more into public affairs.
