Houston County man convicted in 2017 murder of Elliot Mizell
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – A Houston County man is convicted for the December 2017 murder and aggravated assault of a 55-year-old man in his Warner Robins home.
In Houston County Superior Court, a jury convicted 25-year-old Daniel Thomas for the murder of Elliot Mizell.
The charges stem from a shooting that happened December 9, 2017 at Mizell’s home on Villa North Court. Around 9am, officers responded to the home after a neighbor found Mizell’s body.
During interviews with Thomas, investigators say Thomas admitted to being involved in the shooting. But he said the shooting occurred during an altercation with Mizell and the gun discharged accidentally.
Detectives determined that Thomas’ story was not supported by the evidence at the scene.
In sentencing, Thomas faces the possibility of Life Without the Possibility of Parole. His sentencing hearing is set for Friday at 1pm.
