Houston County School System gets $2,750 safety grant
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – The Houston County School System is making a few safety improvements.
The Houston County School System received a 2018-19 Safety Grant from the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA).
Houston County says it will use the $2,750 grant to provide a standard numbering system for the external doors at schools. This numbering system will help emergency personnel in the event of an emergency.
“This safety initiative resulted from our district level safety committee, which includes our local law enforcement agencies and school representatives,” said Assistant Superintendent for School Operations, Dr. Richard Rogers. “Our number one priority is the safety of our students and staff across the school district.”
This year’s total award was $50,000. Thirteen school districts received grant awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
Fifty applications were submitted to GSBA.
