Man Pleads Guilty To Voluntary Manslaughter In Deadly Fort Valley Shooting
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (WMGT/41NBC) – A Fort Valley man pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter in a deadly apartment shooting.
In Peach County Superior Court, 21-year-old Corey McKinney Junior was sentenced to serve 20 years, with the first 12 years in prison.
Back in February, McKinney got into an argument with his relative, 20-year-old Dalvin Smith. They were they at the Indian Oaks Apartments on East Church Street in Fort Valley.
McKinney said the victim threatened to beat him up and refused to leave his apartment. McKinney has maintained that he shot Smith after Smith refused to leave and continued to threaten to beat him.
