Pedestrian Safety Review Board sees some improvement in crosswalk use

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Pedestrian Safety Review Board members took their “On the Move” campaign to one of Macon’s busiest intersections Friday morning.

Organizers set up at the Chevron gas station near Arkwright Road and Riverside Drive.

They stopped walkers and drivers to share information about pedestrian safety and even handed out flashing arm bands for pedestrians.

“They were receptive to receiving an arm band. We demonstrated how to use it and went over the education card which has been given to us by the pedestrian on the move campaign,” said board member Violet Poe.

Poe says they’ve seen some improvement in the number of people using crosswalks to cross the street.
