92 year-old veteran honored during Macon service
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia State University hosted its second Veterans Day ceremony in Macon Wednesday.
Macon-Bibb Mayor Robert Reichert explained the history behind the World War I memorial on Coleman Hill. The president of the university handed out coins to thank veterans for their service. Among them was 92-year-old Kathryn Lininger. She worked as a typist during World War II and said she never misses a Veterans Day.
“It means everything. I love America and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Best country in the world,” said Lininger.
Lininger has worn her service uniform every Veterans Day since the 1940’s.
