78-year-old man dies after vehicle crashes into Macon home

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 78-year-old man died Thursday after his vehicle crashed into a home in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision happened shortly before 10 a.m. at a residence in the 1900 block of Woodland Drive.
Investigators said Willie H. Smith Jr. was driving a white Chevrolet Equinox east on Waverland Drive at the intersection of Woodland Drive when he appeared to lose control of the vehicle and struck the roof of a residence.
Paramedics provided aid to Smith before taking him to a local medical facility. Smith was later pronounced dead by Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, according to the sheriff’s office.
No other injuries were reported.
The collision remains under investigation.
