Rain, storms today, possible severe weather tomorrow

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Once again, Mother Nature decides to give us the busiest weather during the week after a beautiful weekend. And for those of you with weekends off, you’re not complaining, I’m sure!

A cold front moves into the area today and will stall. It’ll bring showers and storms to Middle Georgia this afternoon and evening. CAPE (convective available potential energy) values are high enough to spark thunderstorms, though I’m not seeing much of a worry in terms of severe weather today.

Overnight does not look as rainy, though tomorrow afternoon is a different story: I’m seeing more showers and storms flowing into the area from the south as the cold front continues to stals in our area. There’s also a marginal to slight chance for severe weather, with gusty winds being the main concern.

The front will begin to move out of the area Wednesday, and a strong low pressure system moves into the Peach State that morning. Right now, the timing of its arrival is between 5am – 7am, but I expect the timeline to change as it normally does a couple days in advance.

A marginal to slight chance for severe weather exists on Wednesday as well, with gusty winds once again being the biggest concern.

Once that system has moved out of the area, sunshine and chilly weather return. Highs will drop to the 50s, with lows in the 20s and 30s.
