35 suspects charged in undercover drug bust “Operation Southern Postal Powder”

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 35 defendants are facing drug trafficking and money laundering charges for their involvement in a Macon based drug organization.

Federal agents with the help of state and local law enforcement officers obtained large amounts of cocaine and marijuana.

Penalties for the charges range from 10 years to life in prison with fines ranging from $500,000 to $10,000,000.

In a news release, Special Agent in Charge, IRS Criminal Investigation, Veronica Hyman-Pillot said, “We would like this operation to serve as a strong message to individuals throughout the region that we will not stand for the destruction that drugs and related criminal activity bring to our communities.”

A bond indictment stated that the parties involved possessed more than 100 kilograms of marijuana and more than 5 kilograms of cocaine with the intent to sell.
