3 arrested in Laurens County for smuggling drugs, gun to local prison

The three individuals were speeding while attempting to transport contraband.

DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three people were arrested after attempting to transport contraband to a local prison, according to the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, the incident happened on February 8. The three individuals were speeding while attempting to transport contraband.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety, Laurens County K-9 Unit, and Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) worked together during the contraband drop.

Deputies issued a traffic stop which led to a search warrant of their hotel.

During a search of the suspect’s hotel, deputies discovered 12 pounds (5,846 grams) of marijuana, 13 pounds (5,979 grams) of tobacco, 1 pound (526 grams) of MDMA (ecstasy), 13 oxycodone pills, 31 vapes, 16 cell phones, 1 hotspot, 1 gun, and a variety of other contraband items.
