$3.5 million restoration of Dublin’s skyscraper to be new home for GMC campus
Governor Nathan Deal visited the Emerald City Tuesday to announce the $3.5 million restoration of downtown Dublin’s First National Bank Building. It was built in 1913 and will house Georgia Military College’s new Dublin campus.
The “Dublin Skyscraper” restoration project is a partnership between the Dublin Downtown Development Authority, Walters Management Company, and Georgia Military College. The Walters Management Company is paying for the restoration and GMC will be the tenant of the building. Officials say this will be an historic renovation
The new campus will create three administrative jobs and as many as 50 adjunct faculty positions in the first five years. An estimated 150 to 250 students will attend the GMC Dublin campus.
Construction is scheduled to start in the next few weeks. It is expected to be completed by September 2015.
