29th Pan African Festival begins in downtown Macon with theme ‘Stronger Together’

The festival will take place in the parking lot of the Tubman Museum, located at 310 Cherry St.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 29th Pan African Festival of Georgia begins today in downtown Macon with the theme “Stronger Together.”

The festival will take place in the parking lot of the Tubman Museum, located at 310 Cherry St.

Festival founder Chi Ezekwueche said she started the event 29 years ago to unite people across Middle Georgia and celebrate African culture.

Organizer Arizona Watkins said the festival is open to everyone and encourages the community to attend the family-friendly celebration.

  • April 25: Honorable Ambassador Robie Kakonge Reception and Afrocentric Ball

  • April 26: IT Roundtable, Opening Ceremonies and Festival, and Ugandan After-Party
