FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 75 acre greenhouse will soon be built on Highway 96.
The company Pure Flavor will invest more than $105,000,000 to build the greenhouse.
It will be used to grow tomatoes and cucumbers to distribute to several states including Georgia.
Angie Luna, Director of Operations at the Fort Valley Utility Commission, said the greenhouse will be the utility commission’s biggest customer.
“To put it in perceptive, the electric consumption for this project will be as much electricity as our entire service area consumes currently,” Luna said.
The greenhouse will be built in three phases. The first phase will be completed by September of 2018.
The greenhouse will be completed over a five year period.
