Macon’s baseball team needs a name, asking for public’s help
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon’s new Coast Plain League team is in full swing with preparations. Among making plans for renovations, trying to find a coach, and get ticket sales underway, there’s still something missing. They need a name and they’re asking the public suggestions.
President of the team, Todd Pund says they thought it would be best to get the community involved throughout the process.
“Baseball’s about being in a community,” said Pund. “We don’t want to just be some strangers coming in here and saying this is the name, we want to have people involved.”
Pund and the team would prefer to have a family-friendly name and having it tied to Macon’s heritage, but there are no specific guidelines.
“People have been suggesting names to us without even asking,” said Pund. “So it shows it shows that they’re into it, into what we want to do and why not get some great ideas from fans?”
You can send in your name suggestions on their website, maconbaseball2018.com.
The team is expected to start playing by June 2018.
