2014 Indian Celebration at Ocmulgee National Monument
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The community had the opportunity to interact with true native people.
From learning traditional dances, to face painting, there was fun for the entire family.
Ocmulgee National Monument Superintendent Jim David said this celebration is a special homecoming for some of these natives.
“The government removed all of the native people from Georgia back in the 1800’s and so to bring them back here, this is sacred land. This is a homecoming for them and it’s a chance, once again, for people to see true native culture,” said David.
