JONES COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 17-year-old was arrested for a series of car break-ins in Jones County, according to the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, deputies began responding to calls about cars being broken into on Sun Valley Drive on January 27. A handgun was reported stolen out of one of the vehicles.

On January 28, deputies received more calls on Troutman Drive and Bethune Downs Court for more car break-ins and a vehicle being stolen from one of the residences. Deputies later located the vehicle in a wooded area on Horseshoe Drive.

A vehicle on Alton Drive was broken into and several firearms were stolen on January 31. The owner of the stolen items had multiple Air Tags attached to the bags the guns were kept in. The Air Tags led deputies to a residence on Horseshoe Drive. Deputies searched the residence on Horseshoe Drive, but were unable to locate any of the stolen items.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies then began to search the surrounding area and made contact with a neighbor across the street. The neighbor gave consent to search around his property. Deputies located the firearms and Air Tags behind the residence.

Deputies spoke with the homeowner and went inside to speak with his grandson, 17-year-old Kuavon Worthy. Deputies determined Worthy had been responsible for the car-break ins and took him into custody at that time.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.
