Man wanted in connection to deadly shootout at Macon gas station

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man involved in a shootout Thursday that left one person dead.

De’Andre Thomas, 20, is wanted in connection to a shootout at a Bloomfield gas station that took the life of 25-year-old Kareem Mano.

Bibb County investigators say the shooting took place in the middle of the day Thursday, at one of the busiest intersections in Macon – Bloomfield Road and Rocky Creek Road.

According to a report, the two men may have been arguing over a cellphone. During the confrontation, deputies say both men pulled out guns and began shooting at each other. The incident happened in front of the USA Grocery on Rocky Creek Road.

Investigators say Mano was fatally wounded by a gunshot wound to the chest. Mano’s father told 41NBC that Kareem has a boy that is a month and a half old. Mano’s family also said Kareem pulled a gun but never fired it. They say Kareem was shot and killed after he put his gun away and was walking back to his vehicle.

The suspect, Thomas, was last seen wearing a red shirt and black sweatpants. He had on black and white shoes.
