UPDATE: Woman arrested for shooting teenager in the head
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A woman has been arrested for shooting a 15-year-old boy in the head Monday night.
47-year-old Elisabeth Cannon is charged with aggravated assault. Reports say Vernon Marcus Jr. and friends were walking past Cannon’s home just before 8 p.m. when they heard gun shots, then noticed the Marcus had been shot in the head.
Cannon made an appearance in court Tuesday afternoon. She admitted that she fired shots to scare off a group of boys who were near her property. She stated in a police report that they were throwing rocks at her and her home earlier on Monday. In her attempt to scare the boys, she shot Marcus.
Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies had been called to Cannon’s home before and were looking into the rock throwing.
Sheriff David Davis said, “It still doesn’t give someone the right to use a fire arm to ‘scare somebody’.”
It has not been confirmed if Marcus and his friends were on Cannon’s property. Marcus is still in the hospital in stable but critical condition.
Cannon is still in jail on a bond set at $12,400. The incident is still under investigation.
