11 pm updated forecast of Florence continues to bring storm to Middle Georgia

The latest update on Hurricane Florence has been issued at 11pm. The good news is that it appears to be weakening.

Dry air (the orange area by the arrow) is working it’s way into Florence and helping to weaken the storm. Regardless there are very strong winds that will be associated with the system and it is still a large and dangerous storm.

The latest track will bring the system onshore likely as a category 2 or strong category 1 storm. Regardless the main issues for the coast remain flooding rains and storm surge.
Here in Middle Georgia the threats remain gusty winds and the potential for flash flooding, mainly in our eastern counties. The most likely timing here in Middle Georgia will be overnight Saturday and into Sunday, with storm conditions lingering potentially into early next week.
