(NBC)- Eleven people were killed after a skydiving plane crashed in northeastern France on Sunday, according to French officials.

The pilot and all 10 passengers aboard the single-engine aircraft died in the crash. Officials said the passengers included five skydiving instructors and five novice jumpers.

Authorities said some family members witnessed the plane fall from the sky while watching from the ground.

France’s transport minister said it is too early to determine what caused the crash but confirmed the aircraft suddenly dropped from the sky. Investigators are working to determine the cause.

Emergency crews responded quickly and have been providing psychological support to the victims’ families.

Officials said the crash is believed to be France’s deadliest skydiving-related aviation accident in about 30 years.
