10 Roberta votes stop unification in Crawford County

ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It appears 10 votes stopped the unification of Roberta and Crawford County from becoming a reality.

State Representative Robert Dickey (R-Musella) said, “Well, I think the selection did not go out of the way of unification it will carry-on. Roberta will still take care of their business in the city and the county will take care of the county. The residence of Crawford County I’ll represent all the citizens of Crawford County it will still continue on people did not want to make the change but things will work out fine.”

The people in Crawford voted for the unification. The residents in Roberta turned it down.

Roberta and Crawford County would have followed in the the steps of Macon-Bibb. The people in Macon-Bibb voted to unify in 2012.

A county commission and the city council remains the way they are right now.  There will be a sheriff’s office and a police department.
