10 local artists and bands will perform on Macon Music Vol. 2 CD

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fans of local Macon music will soon have a chance to update their musical libraries.

Newtown Macon announced the 10 winners that will be featured in Macon Music Vol. 2 Tuesday afternoon, which will be released later in the Fall.

Local bands and artists who were interested in being on the CD were asked to submit their entries to a group of nine anonymous judges, all of which are involved with the area’s music scene. The 10 winners were culled from a total of 36 submissions, according to a news release from Newtown Macon.

One of those 10 artists, guitarist and vocalist Ron Williams of the Muddle Jawja Band, says being chosen to be on the compilation was a culmination of years of practice.

“A couple of opportunities came up on campus for us to play so we played for those, that lead to more things and eventually the CD they’re releasing,” Williams said. “We started playing three years ago, more or less as a lark, the more we played together the more we enjoyed it.”

In addition to being on the disc, each artist will get their own promotional photographs and videos, and will perform live at the CD release concert hosted by Friends of Macon Music.

Each artist will record their song at Shadow Sound Studio, which is owned by musician Joey Stuckey.
