FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The city of Forsyth is just hours away from beginning its new year’s eve celebration.
Mayor Eric Wilson explains how the annual ball drop is a great opportunity for residents to come and have a great time and it also helps bring the community together.
“Well, we’re so excited this is our third annual new years eve, on the courthouse square in Forsyth. And, we just hope people will come out and celebrate with us. We started doing this, as I said two years ago. This is our third year dropping the ball at midnight but the festival really gets started at nine pm and that’s when swain and the highway souls, a local band will take the stage,” says Wilson.
Mayor Wilson also says the weather from the previous year was not great. However, they do expect to get better weather this year.
“So we had some really bad weather the first year. It rained and it was cold. The combination of the two made it really bad. The second year it was cold, but no rain. This year we’re going to have a nice warm evening,” says Wilson.
The Celebration kicks off at 9 p.m. in the downtown Forsyth square. Chairs and coolers are allowed but pets will not be permitted in the area.
