MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is accused of trying to sneak meth and tobacco into the Bell County Detention Center by offering a jail employee $50 to bring the items into the facility, according to the jailer.

Investigators say 31-year old Candice Simpson tried to get the items into the jail by putting them in clothing and asking the jail employee to bring the clothes into the detention center.

After the reported offer from Simpson, the jail employee stepped aside, notified the jailer, who in turn called police, according to investigators.

The illegal contraband never made it into the jail, but Simpson did on charges of promoting contraband and bribery of a public servant, according to the jail.
