MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A federal agent with the military was able to thwart a would-be robber at a Macon hotel Sunday morning.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says that a suspect entered the Best Western Inn & Suites on Chambers Rd just befor 8:30 a.m. He was wearing a mask and holding a handgun.
The clerk at the front desk saw the masked suspect enter and screamed as she ran towards the back door of the motel. The suspect went behind the counter and attempted to open the cash drawer, but was unable to get it open.
During the incident, a guest at the hotel, identified as a federal agent with the military, heard the scream from the clerk and went to see what was going on. Once he saw what was happening, the agent confronted the suspect near the front counter of the hotel. The suspect made his way to the door and fled on foot. No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as about 5’10”, 200 lbs, with a beard. He was wearing blue Velcro shoes, an orange or light red shirt, and a dark-colored hoodie.
