MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County teacher accused of possessing child pornography is now on administrative leave with pay.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Robert Smith was charged with sexual exploitation of children after deputies say they found several videos of child pornography on Smith’s laptop.
He is a special education teacher at Central High School and has been working in the district since 2012.
The school systems says investigators did not find anything inappropriate on the teacher’s school issued laptop.
Officials say they also don’t know of any inappropriate conduct happening at the school.
Right now, Smith is in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center with no bond.
The district says it notified parents of the incident with a phone message Friday afternoon.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
