MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -Macon Mayhem team members took a break from the ice and took a visit to the Middle Georgia Food Bank on Monday.
Players packed more than 100 boxes with food for families who may not be able to afford a thanksgiving feast on their own.
The Mayhem’s Dennis Sickard says this is their way of sharing with their other ‘family’ since players don’t get to spend the holiday with their loved ones.
“It’s such a special time of year, and for a lot of us we don’t get to be at home and enjoying our family and stuff. So, we just enjoy helping our community any way we can for people who need a little smile on their face or just need food for thanksgiving,” he said.
Saturday’s Mayhem game is an opportunity for community members and fans to get in on the giving and also get in return.
Anyone who brings a canned good to the game to donate will get their entry price reduced to $10.
