MACON – Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 26-year-old Yteka Johnson on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a purse. It was reported that the victim, a 73-year-old woman, was in the restroom of the McDonald’s on Harrison Road and placed her purse on the floor. Deputies say Johnson then came into the restroom, snatched the purse, and fled the restaurant on foot. The only description the victim could give was that the suspect had on red shoes with white soles.

Later, a deputy was flagged down in front of the nearby America’s Best Inn. The deputy spotted Johnson in the parking lot, wearing red shoes that matched the description in the lookout. She was also going through a purse. When the deputy approached her, she threw the purse and fled on foot. Johnson was later taken into custody and charged with Robbery by Snatching. The victim’s purse and its contents were returned.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
