MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hurricane evacuees in Macon got to take one last load off before heading back home on Tuesday thanks to a local church group.

Ingleside Baptist Church’s Loads of Love volunteers spent the afternoon offering free laundry services to evacuees before they hit the road.

16 year-old Alyssa Oliver started the Loads of Love ministry. She says she knows people have a laundry list of things to do already. She was happy to help knock one big task off.

“You don’t wanna travel in dirty clothes and you don’t wanna have to go home and one of the things you have to do is laundry. What if you don’t have power? Then you’re not able to do your clothes and then that’s something else you have to add to your list,” she said.

Loads of Love does their free laundry service at the Wash N’ Dry laundromat on Riverside Drive every third Thursday of the month from 5-7 PM for people in the community.

Tuesday was just their special way of seeing off storm evacuees.
