1) Snow in Georgia — As we saw early last year, we can get several inches of snow. That’s a dusting for other parts of the nation but a big deal for us! Review your family emergency plan, inventory your emergency kit, which should include food. Ensure you have enough warm clothing for everyone in your family, including pets. Continually monitor weather forecasts and stay off the roads and out of the elements if at all possible.
2) Prepping your car — Before the cold weather have your vehicle inspected and repair any issues, especially brakes, tires, windshield wipers and heater. Keep your fuel tank at least ¾ full. Use non-freezing windshield washer fluid. Keep an ice scrapper and extra blankets in your vehicle.
3) Black ice — Black ice is a large thin coating of ice covering the road that is transparent and the road can been seen through the ice. Always use caution while driving especially if temps are below 32 degrees. Watch for a reflection in the road or other cars slowing down.
