A crowd of family and friends, dressed in red, looked on as Bibb Superior Court Judge Tillman Self handed out the ruling.

Tracy Michelle Jones, Michael Brett Kelly, and Kelly’s half-sister, Courtney Nicole Kelly, all pleaded guilty to felony murder as well as a slew of other charges.

Courtney Kelly has the possibility of getting parole.

District Attorney David Cooke says he wants Monday’s hearing to be a message to those who commit a violent crime.

“We’re just grateful to be able to get justice for Gail Spencer and for her family and the community on three out of the four defendants. Had the attorney not gotten sick earlier this year, we would’ve wrapped these folks up about a month ago,” Cooke said.

The fourth co-defendant in this case, Keith Anthony Dozier, is in the Bibb County jail awaiting trial.

Cooke says the state is seeking the maximum sentencing on Dozier, which could mean life in prison without parole.

A trial date has not been set.
