GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tired of unwanted fliers filling her mailbox, one Gordon woman decided to turn her ‘junk mail’ into jewelry.

June Lassetter mixes, pours and creates beads and bracelets with unwanted post; she calls her creations “Bling That’s Green”.

Using toothpicks, charms and embellishments, the Wilkinson County mother crafted up a way to turn the glossy sales papers into gems. Together, her and her daughter, roll the paper up into beads, dip it in glaze and start stringing together bracelets and necklaces. The old ads have turned into a business and a lesson in green living for her entire family.

“I started making them for myself,” she said, “and then I realized I was using less trash bags because I was recycling everything and it just grew from here.”

She now sells her bracelets at local art festivals and events and prices range anywhere from $6-$10.
