WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Robins Air Force Base officials handed out nearly 9,000 smart power strips in an effort to conserve energy and cut cost.
The new strips will allow employees to plug in everything at one spot, then turning it off with just the push of a button. It will also assist in automatically shutting down multiple devices. Once the strip senses there is no activity taking place, the power shuts down.
Dave Bury, the base energy manager, said that by using the new power strips, the base could save an estimated $50,000 a year.
