Paris Fan Dies After Attack by Rival Supporters

French police say a fan of the Paris Saint-Germain soccer team has died after weeks in a coma following an attack by
rival supporters of the club.

The 38-year-old fan suffered serious head injuries during street clashes among fan groups at a Feb. 28 French league match against Marseille.

A Paris police official said Thursday the fan, who was not identified, died late Wednesday night in the Beaujon Hospital. The
official was not authorized to be publicly named because of police rules.

World Press Critical of Woods' Return

Tiger Woods' planned return to golf at the Masters has drawn plenty of criticism from the international press, and the most scathing comments have come from Britain.

Daily Mirror columnist Oliver Holt questions the top-ranked golfer's reasons for coming back to play at Augusta National.

He wrote: "How typical of the man to hijack the world's most famous golf tournament. How could he turn Augusta into a circus
like this? Does his vanity know no limits?"

Mike Tyson: Pigeon Racer

Former world heavyweight champ Mike Tyson will take flight on Animal Planet with a new sport - pigeon racing.

The network this week announced a new reality show that will pit Tyson, a novice pigeon racer, against serious competitors.

The show is currently titled "Taking on Tyson" and promises to bring audiences inside this "intensely competitive and bizarrely
fascinating world."

Soccer Star Beckham to Have Surgery

David Beckham has left a Milan hotel on crutches and headed to the airport for a flight to Finland for surgery on his torn left Achilles' tendon.

The former England captain was injured in the closing minutes of AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo Verona on Sunday.

With his hopes of becoming the first English player to appear in four World Cups shattered and his future in international soccer in doubt, Beckham was slated for surgery either later Monday or Tuesday morning with specialist surgeon Dr. Sakari Orava.

Lindsey Vonn wins 3rd straight overall World Cup

Lindsey Vonn has won her third straight overall World Cup title.  The U.S. Olympian, who won the final super-G of the season
Friday, also won titles in the downhill, the super-G and combined events this season.

She is the first woman to win three straight overall titles since Petra Kronberger of Austria in 1990-92.

Alaskan Iditarod Underway

Tracking information shows four-time winner Jeff King of Denali Park is the first musher into Ruby early Friday in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Ruby is the first checkpoint on the Yukon River and the next 150 miles of the route follow the river.

King is followed by Lance Mackey of Fairbanks, the defending champion who is going for a fourth straight win, and Hugh Neff of
Tok.

Seventeen mushers have left Cripple, the halfway checkpoint on the 1,100-mile race to Nome.

Seven of the 71 mushers who left Willow on Sunday have scratched.

Polish Skier Tests Positive for EPO at Olympics

The Polish Olympic Committee says cross-country skier Kornelia Marek tested positive for EPO at the Vancouver Olympics.

Marek, who helped Poland to a sixth-place finish in the women's 20,000-meter relay on Feb. 25, tested positive for doping after that race. She also finished 11th in the 30K mass start and ninth in the women's team sprint.

The "B" sample is to be tested Friday in Richmond, British Columbia.

Polish Olympic Committee spokesman Henryk Urbas says Marek has denied taking any banned substances.

Woods Crash Prompted Hundreds of E-mails to Patrol

The Florida Highway Patrol was flooded with e-mails criticizing their handling of the investigation of the crash involving golfer Tiger Woods that led to him admitting to extramarital affairs.

A review by the Orlando Sentinel found that the highway patrol and its umbrella agency, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, got more than 400 e-mails in the days after the November crash outside Woods' home near Orlando.

Lindsey Vonn Falls in Giant Slalom

Lindsey Vonn of the United States fell in the first leg of the final giant slalom of the season, opening the way for rival Maria Riesch to make up ground in the race for the overall title.

Vonn, seeking her third straight title, went into Thursday's race with a 225-point lead over the German. But Vonn lost balance
in the upper part of the course and tumbled over in heavy snowfall.

Ex-Spurs Player Alvin Robertson Returns to Jail

Former NBA All-Star Alvin Robertson, facing sexual assault of a child and sex trafficking charges, is back in jail in San Antonio after a judge increased his bond.

Prosecutors say they had asked that Robertson's bail be doubled to $450,000 on Wednesday after allegations surfaced that he was threatening two women. The 47-year-old Robertson was still in jail late Wednesday.

He has been accused of being part of a sex trafficking ring that kidnapped a 14-year-old girl. Robertson, through his lawyer, has
denied the allegations.
