Add Hip-Hop to 'Rock Band' thanks to Snoop Dogg

Rap and rock will collide once again - this time in a video game.

Fans of the hit game "Rock Band" will get a chance to jam to some hip-hop, thanks to Snoop Dogg.

He's the first rap artist to be featured in the video game, which already has songs from top artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Who, AC/DC and Green Day.

Eight Snoop Dogg tracks will appear in the "Rock Band" music store. The game will be released Tuesday.

Hawking says God Not Needed for Creation

Physicist Stephen Hawking says God wasn't necessary for the creation of the universe.

In his new book, "The Grand Design," the British scientist says unraveling a complex series of theories will explain the
universe. The book, written with American physicist and author Leonard Mlodinow, will be published Sept. 9.

In an extract published Thursday in The Times, Hawking wrote that it was "not necessary to invoke God."

Rapper T.I., Wife Arrested on Drug Charges

Authorities say Rapper T.I. and wife Tameka Cottle have been arrested on drug charges after police smelled alleged marijuana coming from their car.'

Los Angeles sheriff's deputy Mark Pope says the arrests for possession of a controlled substance came late Wednesday night on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood during a traffic stop.

He says the 29-year-old T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and Cottle, a 36-year-old singer, were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff's station and bail was set at $10,000.

Tarantino calls Venice lineup 'Cool, Eclectic'

Quentin Tarantino says the Venice Film Festival lineup is "one of the most wildest, cool, eclectic lineups" he's ever seen.

Tarantino heads the jury that will judge 22 films from 11 countries, plus one surprise film to be announced next week, for the coveted Golden Lion.

The director of "Inglourious Basterds" knows about festival lineups. This isn't his first jury. In fact, the director confessed
to hosting his own private festivals, lining up 15 DVDs and judging himself which was the best, a sort of unofficial Tarantino Film
Fest.

Michael Douglas Optimistic About Cancer Recovery

Michael Douglas says he's begun treatment for throat cancer and that his odds of recovery are high.

In an appearance Tuesday on David Letterman's "Late Show," the actor said he faces an "eight-week struggle" that includes radiation and chemotherapy. Douglas said he has at least an 80 percent chance of recovery.

Letterman told Douglas he looked good and was a "tough guy," and the men ended the interview with a hug, according to a CBS statement.

Clooney, Will Smith Join Anti-Cancer Telethon

George Clooney, Will Smith and Gwyneth Paltrow join an impressive list of stars taking part in September's "Stand Up to Cancer" telethon to air on major television networks.

Other celebrities announced Wednesday include Denzel Washington, Renee Zellweger, Kathy Bates and Richard Branson.

Performers include Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Neil Diamond, The Edge, Herbie Hancock, Lady Antebellum and Leona Lewis.

"Stand Up to Cancer" will air Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and a number of cable channels.

Lohan Talks Trial, Talent, Drug Use in Vanity Fair

Lindsay Lohan wants your respect.

In the upcoming issue of Vanity Fair, the 24-year-old actress admits making mistakes in the past and "dabbling in certain things." But she defends her actions, saying she was just being young and curious and was associating with the wrong people.

Lohan granted the interview to the magazine in July before she served 14 days in jail followed by 23 days of inpatient rehab.

Despite everything, Lohan says she is confident in her acting abilities and her future.

JK Rowling Donates 10 Million Pounds for MS Center

Author J.K. Rowling has given 10 million pounds ($15.4 million) to set up a clinic to treat and research multiple sclerosis, the disease that killed her mother.

The creator of Harry Potter says she hopes the clinic will become "a world center for excellence in the field of regenerative neurology."

Rowling said Tuesday that the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic will be based at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

The university says Rowling's gift is the largest single donation it has received.

Richard Gere to Join Dalai Lama at Emory in October

Actor Richard Gere will soon enlighten Atlanta.

The Buddhist will appear with the Dalai Lama and author Alice Walker at Emory University on Oct. 19 for a panel discussion of spirituality and the arts.

The forum is part of the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader's weekend visit to Emory as the university's presidential distinguished professor. He was last on campus in 2007.

Gere is longtime Buddhist and follower of the Dalai Lama.

German court finds HIV singer guilty

A German court has found a girl-band singer guilty of causing bodily harm to an ex-boyfriend by having unprotected sex with him despite knowing she was infected with HIV but she won't spend any time in prison.

News agency ddp reported the Darmstadt administrative court on Thursday handed 28-year-old Nadja Benaissa a two-year suspended
sentence after finding the No Angels bandmember guilty.

Benaissa helped her case during the nearly two-week trial by acknowledging she had unprotected sex despite knowing she was HIV-positive and saying it was a big mistake.
