Workman is joined on the A-Sun Academic All-Conference team by fellow seniors Michael Massi and Brandon Barker, with Mercer’s three selections tied with North Florida for the most in the league.

Mercer has now won the A-Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year award in back-to-back years as Barker took home the honor in 2013.

For Workman, this is the second major academic award he has received in the last few weeks as he was voted a Capital One Academic All-District 4 first team selection on May 1.

Barker is now a two-time A-Sun Academic All-Conference team selection with a 3.6 GPA as an engineering major. Barker posted a 4-4 record this season with a 3.50 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 64.1 innings pitched. The Woodstock, Ga. native is currently the Active Career Leader in the A-Sun Conference with 20 wins and 247 strikeouts.
Workman, Massi and Barker return to the diamond on May 21 when Mercer takes on Stetson in the opening round of the A-Sun Baseball Championship in Fort Myers, Fla.
