Warner Robins Demons looking to take next step after 2013 playoff defeat

Bill Shanks sits down with Bryan Way, head football coach of the Warner Robins Demons.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Going into his 11th year as head coach of the Warner Robins Demons football team, Bryan Way is coming off a season that saw his squad win 11 times, beat Northside and reach the state quarterfinals.

Coach Way was disappointed with the Demons' play against Kell in that quarterfinal game, which saw the Longhorns put more than 50 points on the scoreboard. Despite the loss, Way was very proud of his team's accomplishment and hopes the experience will help them in 2014.

With former quarterback Caden Johnston having moved on, the offense will be looking for a new QB.  Coach Way says he has three good candidates to fill that void and believes any of one them are capable of getting the job done.

On defense, the Demons must replace several linebackers and are changing defensive schemes to help accommodate the departures and lack of experience from the remaining group. The secondary will be a high point, according to Way, with several returning players like CB Reggie Gordon and DB Kaman Cooper.

It'll be difficult for the Demons to better their 11-2 record from 2013, with tough games on the schedule against Houston County, Jones County, Lakeside and arch-rival Northside.

"We'll just have to see who ends up being the last man standing," said Coach Way.

The Demons' season begins against Peach County at McConnell-Talbert Stadium on August 29.
