UPDATE: Pedestrian killed on Riverside Drive in Macon

A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car Tuesday night on Riverside Drive.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - The Bibb Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident after a pedestrian was hit by a car Tuesday night.

It happened near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Hudson Street around 10:20 p.m. That area was blocked off for several hours while deputies investigated.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says the victim is 63-year-old Amos Harris Junior.

The driver, 25-year-old Kriston Raffield of Macon, was driving north on Riverside Drive in a 2006 Nissan Maxima. Deputies say Harris was crossing Riverside Drive toward Hudson Street when he was hit.

The sheriff's office says Harris was not in a crosswalk at the time of the accident.

When 41NBC arrived at the scene, the body was in the middle lane covered by a blanket.

The victim's family lives several streets over on Walnut Street.

The driver is not facing any charges at this time.
