Twiggs County armed robber caught within hours

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man accused of robbing a truck stop/gas station at gun point, made his first appearance in court Monday.

Christopher Scott Henson appeared before Twiggs County Magistrate Court Judge David Brown to answer the charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Twiggs County Sheriff Darren Mitchum, says Henson confessed that he pointed a gun at 96 Truck Plaza clerks while demanding money.

The incident happened Sunday around 6 am., on Highway 96 in Twiggs County.

“The clerks gave [Henson] the money in the register, approximately $140 and he left the store in small brown tan Ford Bronco,” says Mitchum.

Deputies located the car at 707 Williams Road, and later located Henson at 205 Rail Road Avenue in Danville, Ga., inside Twiggs County.

Henson could be seen by deputies sitting on a couch near shotgun inside the home. He was arrested without incident. Henson's only request was could he finished a large can of beer before being handcuffed.

Investigators also arrested three other people inside the home on non-related charges.

Henson was apprehended Sunday, around 10 a.m, and was taken to the Twiggs County jail where he is being held without bond.
