MACON, Georgia (41NBCWMGT) – We all have a place where we store our food. Whether you have a big pantry or a couple of shelves, professional organizer Andi Willis has some tips on how you can use your space wisely.
Wills said an organized pantry can help you save time when you cook dinner. It can also help you save money so you don't lose food or it expires.
The first thing Willis says you should do is take all of your food out and get rid of anything that is expired or that you are not going to use. If you have food that is nonperishable and has not expired, you can donate it to your local food bank.
If you fill up your shelves, you won't be able to find the items you need. Willis suggests using stacked risers so you can see all the food in the back. She also says bins are good for organizing like foods together and you can reach items in the back without the stuff in the front getting in the way.
Willis says you can add an extra shelf to your pantry.
She added it is important to use your vertical space, like behind the pantry door or on the wall. You can use a rack or an over the door shoe rack to organize your pantry.
